Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. -John 15:5b

Over the past two years, the Lord has been pretty consistent in sharing with me about abiding.

To be honest, it’s a rare occasion that a day might pass me by where He would fail to share something about it.  And if He did fail, it would be more likely to assume that I just missed it.

In light of these statements, I’m beginning to think there is something to this abiding thing.

Okay, that’s a bit of an understatement.  Let me try again.

At this point, I am pretty convinced that we were created to abide, and if we’re not abiding, I’m pretty certain we are missing out on what it means to truly live, love and be loved.

So now that you are somewhat caught up, I thought I would share with you what I believe the Lord shared with me this morning during worship.

Hint: It involves abiding.

“Abide in Me.

Abide in My presence.

Abide in My words.

Abide in My truth.

Abide in My peace

in My comfort

in My strength.

Rest and remain in My love.

Seek Me and find Me.

Allow what I say to take root in you.

Let My words and My example be the

FIRM FOUNDATION

on which you stand.

As My truth consumes you and permeates all of your being

As you allow My words to be the

ANCHOR

of your being

The strength of your foundation will be established.

Cling to My truth with all that you are.

Who you are is who I say you are.

Wear your robe of righteousness proudly as I rejoice over you.

Abide in Me,

and you will not be shaken or moved

by the things of this world.”

I encourage you to read John 15 and even all of John to see what the Lord might want to reveal to you about abiding.  I would love to hear what He is sharing with you in this season of life.  Feel free to share your thoughts below.

  1. This has been the theme of my Race so far. I have been reminded day after day that if I am to bear fruit in my life that will benefit those around me, I must be connected to the Vine. As someone who struggles with peace, I have found the most steady peace of my life as I fix my eyes on Him.

Thank you for yet another reminder of this! I can’t wait to see you in just a few months! Praying for you!

  2. Thanks for continuing to write so consistently, Ryan, and for sharing God’s revelation to you! It’s encouraging!! Praying for you and your team as you debrief!

  3. Really good man. I have been thinking about the same thing. Jesus said, “I knew nothing among you except Christ and Him crucified.” (1 Cor. 2) What does it look like for our emotions, thoughts, the decisions we make constantly be driven by love and affection for Jesus? He sustains us and there is so much more application to our life coming from the cross than we are aware of.

  4. Thanks for sharing, Chelsea! It’s great to hear from you and affirming to know that God is sharing this same message with so many others. There’s definitely a firm foundation being set.

Keep pressing in, and I’ll see you soon!

  5. Yes, I believe intimacy and being one with Him is a determining factor if our decisions are to be driven by love and affection for Jesus. Everything we are and everything we do will be a reflection of the love we experience from the Father. Thanks for sharing and being the example you are!
