Independence Day was celebrated from afar this year, but it included fireworks, friends and the best we could come up with for American food.

In order to celebrate in true patriotic fashion, my team and I took a couple trips to Q-Mart, an imported goods grocery store, in search of some classic American foods.

It can be a bit of a stretch on the budget as Macaroni and Cheese is $5 a box, but we figured it would be worth it to splurge a little to celebrate.

So what were we able to concoct you ask?

We feasted on some chips and salsa, deviled eggs, macaroni salad, baked beans, pork sausage(an almost hot dog/bratwurst), watermelon, cake and apple pie.

After some digestion we broke open the fireworks.  It was just like America…as a couple of our neighbors didn’t feel like celebrating.

After lighting some crackers(slang term for fireworks in India), our Indian friends took a somewhat reluctant shot at our American delicacies.  Among their favorites were salsa, deviled eggs and baked beans.

I would love to hear about your 4th and how you chose to celebrate America!  Feel free to relive your 4th in the comments section below.
