Dear Family and Friends,
Here is an update on what God has been and is doing in my life. This year has met me with much growth and self-discovery. From developing life-long friendships to working as a full-time mentor for guys with autism, I have seen God at work in bringing about opportunity to put into practice the things I have been learning. In May I completed my time at The Center for Global Action (CGA), and in July I began working as a mentor with Brightstone Transitions.
At The Center for Global Action I went through Worship, Leadership and Missions Tracks. In Worship Track, I spent time learning what it looks like to incorporate worship into every part of life. In Leadership Track we discussed the qualities of a great leader and the uniqueness of how God made each one of us to lead in our own distinctive ways. While in Missions Track I learned the complexity of what it means to step into and become immersed into another culture on mission. Following my time in CGA I began working as a mentor with Brightstone Transitions.
Brightstone Transitions is a transitional program set in place for young adults with autism to help them achieve the highest level of independence possible. As a mentor, my job has been to lead them into independence through application. This plays out through setting weekly goals with each client, teaching them to cook, helping them through the process of getting and keeping a job and various other functions experienced in daily life. Although I believed this job would turn long-term, Brightstone has served as transition for myself as well.
Ever since being there in January of 2013 my heart has felt a pull towards the people and the nation of India. I am excited to share with you that in February/March of 2016 my team and I will be setting out for a minimum of two years to help establish the Kingdom of God in India. Working alongside Adventures in Missions we will establish a long-term mission’s base and also partner with India Christian Ministries (ICM).
Andhra Pradesh (Pop 85 Million) is the state in India in which the base will be located. The district in the state where we will be concentrating our ministry is made up of close to 3.5 million people. Andhra Pradesh is impoverished (< $500 average annual income) and has the highest AIDS prevalence in India (almost 1%). The literacy rate is less than 65%. Only 1.2% of people consider themselves Christian. This district alone has 188 unreached people groups.
ICM, our partner organization and only ministry contact, was founded with the intent of planting 10 churches; because of how ripe the harvest in India is and the incredible work that God is doing there ICM has now seen over 7000 churches planted. They believe in holistic ministry and also establish care centers, orphanages, and poverty relief programs throughout Andhra Pradesh.
My team and I are so excited and expectant for what God is doing in India!
In order to be sent, I have been once again called and blessed to seek out partners to come alongside me in this awesome thing God is doing. I am seeking for $880 more in committed monthly partnerships, and I would be honored for you to be a part of my team. Would you partner with me monthly?
