This Changes Everything
Jesus-is-Alive
He has ascended to be at the right hand of The Father.
He is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named. ~Ephesians 1:21
And last night we celebrated what that means for us.
We celebrated what The Father had promised.
We celebrated the gift of The Holy Spirit.
Let’s back up a bit.
For roughly 30 years Jesus lived under the radar. Setting His rightful power aside, He was as you and I are, fully human. He became fully human not only to save us, but to also set an example for us.
After 30 years of life, it was now time for Jesus to begin His ministry. He set out to be baptized. After being baptized by John, The Holy Spirit came upon Jesus. And this was a GAME CHANGER.
The Holy Spirit enabled Jesus to walk in intimate communion with The Father. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus constantly reminds us of His mission to be one with The Father and to do only what The Father is doing. In other words, Jesus set His life aside to do the will of His Father, to go where He wanted Him to go, to say what He wanted Him to say, to be the hands and feet of The Father.
The Holy Spirit enabled Jesus to perform countless miracles. At The Father’s will, Jesus put God’s power on display by healing the sick, giving sight to the blind and raising the dead to life.
The Holy Spirit enabled Jesus to be resurrected from the grave. You know this! By what other power would He be raised back to life.
Jesus may have ascended to the throne room, but He surely didn’t leave us here to fend for ourselves. God sent His Spirit to dwell among us and in us and through us, that we too may have intimate communion with The Father. He gave us His Spirit in order that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead would be at work within us, so we too may set aside our lives to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the world around us.
Sounds like a pretty good reason to celebrate.
He set for us the perfect example of what it looks like to live as fully human in the power of The Holy Spirit.
For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
~John 13:15
The Father is bringing His Kingdom to India, and His Spirit has urged me to go be His hands and feet to the people there.
